Mitchell Hill Price is an artist and teacher based in upstate New York.

Having an acute interest from a young age in drawing the things around me I nevertheless experimented with and studied broadly the sciences, the humanities, and more abstract forms of visual expression. Coming to realize slowly that a true and unwavering attraction for representational art was an ongoing part of my life I decided to pursue it and studied academic realism formally, and then began to teach it myself, particularly the subject of human anatomy.

My interest is in visual communication, of both ideas and feelings. As opposed to verbal or written communication, the immediacy of the visual image holds great appeal as it sidesteps issues of language, formal education, and patience. Visual arts are experienced in an immediate and, at times, ongoing way which I find very compelling. I hope to be able to participate in the broad human effort of producing provocative, descriptive, and meaningful work for the benefit of others and myself.
